Members will ensure that vehicles are roadworthy and presented to clients in a clean condition.

Personal Conduct

At all times, it is essential that client's personal and travel details are treated with discretion and confidentiality. Information may only be shared for the purpose of delivering the requested service.

If any driver finds it impossible to reach a customer on time, advance warning must be provided to the customer along with the opportunity to decide whether their services will still be required.

Dress Code

Drivers should appropriately present themselves in neat professional attire to reflect the superior transport service the industry represents.

Geographic Knowledge

The driver is expected to have a sound knowledge of all areas of greater Melbourne and regional areas with a clear understanding of the best available routes, as well as alternative routes in the case of emergency.

This contributes to the image we wish to project in terms of professionalism and competence and assists prompt arrival times for clients.

Compliance with Traffic and Other Laws

Drivers at all times are required to comply with the traffic laws including but not limited to speeding, parking, traffic control and zero blood alcohol requirements.

Consequences Of Breaching The Code Of Conduct

Breaches of the Code of Conduct threatens the professionalism, reputation and viability of our industry and may, at the discretion of the Board, result in expulsion from the CPVAA.

Metropolitan Hire Car Licence

Metropolitan Hire Car licences are issued for pre-booked point-to-point commercial passenger vehicle work undertaken in a luxury motor vehicle where the licence holder has an operational address located inside the Metropolitan Hire Car licence zone (see the boundary map).

Licences are issued for a one-off payment. See fees and charges for pricing. Vehicles operating on Metropolitan Hire Car licences are issued with special identifying VHA or VHB registration plates.

Country Hire Car Licence

Country Hire Car licences are issued for pre-booked point-to-point commercial passenger vehicle work undertaken in a luxury motor vehicle where the licence holder has an operational address located outside the Metropolitan Hire Car licence zone

Special Purpose Hire Vehicle Licence

Special Purpose Vehicle licences are issued specifically to cater for weddings and tours. These licences are only allowed to operate on a pre-booked basis

'Weddings' includes carrying passengers who are:

  • members of a bridal party travelling during any part of the wedding ceremony/day (bride, groom and assistants to bride and groom)
  • travelling directly to or from a debutante ball or school formal.

Restricted Hire Vehicle Licence

Restricted Hire Vehicle licences are issued for pre-booked services only. This licence caters specifically for:

  • vehicles aged 25 years and over
  • motorcycle/tricycle tours
  • 4WD off-road tours
  • vehicles with a seating capacity for between 8-9 seats used in connection with a tour package.

Restricted Hire Vehicles are subject to the licence conditions that are to be with the vehicle at all times.

They are permitted to operate at Melbourne or Avalon Airports provided they are pre booked, form part of their service route and adhere to their licence conditions.
